Why ORCiD™?

ORCiDTM is a free, unique, persistent identifier (PID) for individuals to use as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities.

We also advise using ORCiDTM because we also recommend - and, for some roles on The Ark and in the opensci ecosystem, require - that you verify your ID with opensci.id.

opensci.id provides verified identity for a trusted research ecosystem, connecting securely to your ORCiD™.

Why claim an opensci.id?

  • Be verified: Move beyond self-asserted profiles with strong, privacy-preserving identity checks.
  • Be linked: Connect seamlessly to ORCiD™, so your publications, reviews, and contributions are tied to a verified identity.
  • Be recognized: Show your verified status across platforms, reviews, and publications.
  • Be accountable: Automatically track your contributions across the opensci ecosystem and partner platforms.
